Acute immunodeficiency syndrome is abbreviated as AIDS. As a result of HIV infection that has gone untreated for many years, the immune system is compromised in this state.
Early diagnosis and treatment with antiretroviral medicine reduces the risk of developing AIDS.
AIDS can occur in people with HIV who are not diagnosed until later in life or who are aware that they have HIV but do not take their antiretroviral therapy consistently.

Symptoms of AIDS include:
• A fluctuating fever.
• For a long period, lymph glands swelled, notably in the armpits and neck.
• Exhaustion for a long time.
• Shivering at night.
• Black splotches under the skin or on the lips, nose, or eyelids.
• Genitals, mouth and tongue sores, spots, or lesions.
Antiretroviral therapy controls the virus and protects the condition from advancing to AIDS. Other diseases and repercussions associated with AIDS can also be addressed. That treatment must be tailored to the individual’s needs.
